Students experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for assistance with health-related costs. The Financial Aid Office can help evaluate your options.
Contact Financial Aid →What is a copay?
A copay is a fixed amount you pay for a covered health care service, usually at the time of the visit. For example, your UC SHIP plan includes a $40 copay for urgent care visits outside of the Student Health Center.
Why do I have a balance if I have UC SHIP?
UC SHIP covers most services at the Student Health Center at no charge, but visits to outside providers (like urgent care clinics or specialists) may carry a copay or coinsurance. Your balance of $40.00 is from an urgent care visit at PAMF in January 2025.
How do I dispute a charge?
If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact the SHC billing office at (831) 459-2121 or email billing@ucsc.edu. Please have your visit date and the description of the service ready when you call.
